The Start of My Birth Plan should a Kaiser Delivery be Necessary
Labor
- I refuse constant fetal monitoring
- Do not offer me any drugs
- Do not enter the room during a contraction.
- Anytime you enter the room, do so quietly.
- Do not artificially rupture my membranes
- Ask all questions to the father before asking the mother.
- Do not use the clock to monitor my progress.
- I would like access to the bathtub as long as my water is not broken.
- I would like to walk around as much as possible.
- I want access to a birthing ball and squatting bar when I am admitted
- I want access to a nasal delivery system for oxygen, not a face mask
Delivery
- No episiotomy except in case of fetal distress
- I expect counter pressure and warm wet compresses on my perineum if requested by me
- I want to labor and deliver in any position that I find comfortable including kneeling or squatting.
- No c-section except in case of fetal distress
- The baby should be put onto the mother’s chest immediately after delivery and left there for at least half an hour.
- Do nothing to the baby without the father’s permission. This includes:
- Cord clamping – Do not clamp without permission
- Vitamin K – Do not administer without permission
- Eye wash – Do not administer without permission
- Blood tests – None without permission
- Taking the baby from the mom for any reason, including weighing, measuring or doing an Apgar score – Not without permission
- After delivery mother will travel to the recovery room while holding the baby.
- No circumcision ever.
