Bundok is Tagalog for "mountain" and things to do with mountains. My mother was born in the Philippines. When I was a kid she bought a couple of acres in the rural New Jersey mountains as a retreat and called it Bundok. That piece of land is long sold so I've appropriated the name for my 14 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains. The 'West' here mostly means 'west of New Jersey' but note also that, while the Philippines are west across the Pacific, they are on the other side of the international date line if you go that way.
