Marinated Baked Tofu, total baking time 40mins
- To add to salads, soups, entrees, etc.
- 1Lb extra firm tofu (from Rainbow's bulk buckets. Packaged tofu sucks! for this recipe)
- 3Tbs toasted sesame oil
- 1/4c canola oil
- 3 Tbs minced fresh ginger
- 5Tbs tamari
- 2 cloves garlic
- cayenne to taste
- Preheat oven to 375. Line a baking sheet w/foil or silpat
In a med size bowl make marinade: whisk together sesame oil, canola oil, ginger, tamari, garlic & cayenne
- Slice tofu square into 1/4" slices. Dip in marinade. place on baking sheet. Spoon a few teaspoons of marinade onto each slice. Bake 10mins, spoon a few additional teaspoons of marinade onto each slice. Slide a spatula under each piece to be sure they aren't sticking. Bake 10mins more, flip each piece and spoon on more marinade. Bake an additional 10 mins, spoon on more marinade, slide a spatula underneath to be sure they aren't sticking. Bake for a 3rd round of 10mins or until slices are firm w/a soft crust. If slices appear to be "frying" don't add more marinade at the 10 min intervals. Too much liquid in the pan isn't good.
